If there is no payoff, a title is necessary to get a check on the spot.
If there is a payoff, we need the lender information to obtain a payoff and per diem. We pay off the vehicle and issue a check for equity when we get the title from the lender. In this case, we keep the vehicle and assume responsibility for the car, making it possible for the seller to cancel the insurance and seek a prorated refund for canceled service contracts when applicable.
